ntistatic is something that acts against static electricity. An antistatic mat is a mat on which you can stand upon while working with electrical gadgets such as repairing of computer or adding an expansion cord or any other such job. This mat absorbs the static electricity which can damage electronic components.

Static electricity is created due to the imbalance between the positive and negative charges in the atoms. It happens due to the friction between two surfaces. For instance, static electricity gets created even when you walk on a floor; when the sole of the shoe rubs against the rug. To channelize the charge from conductive and static items placed on the mat; these anti static mats provide a right path to the ground.

These mats can be obtained in single, two and three layered material. These mats are made from single layer homogeneous Polymer Mix or two layer static dissipative rubber material or vinyl with homogeneous conductive layer material. There is choice of colors also such as Gray, Blue or green.

When a static charge gets built up, it is a dangerous situation since it can damage the expensive equipment and the quality of the product can be hampered.
